CROSS-CULTURAL MINISTRY

Our Cross-Cultural Ministry exists to welcome and forge deep relationships with those from different cultures. We are compelled by Jesus' calling in Matthew 25 to love and welcome the stranger.

v. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

v. 40 ...‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Over the last 2 year, we've partnered with the local nonprofit Juniper Refuge to befriend a local Afghan family. We have shared many meals and cups of tea, enjoyed playdates and picnics, celebrated birthdays, and assisted them with a variety of things like doctors visits, grocery shopping, SNAP benefits and WIC, laundry and sewing machines, and sent care packages to their home in Afghanistan.

We want to continue to take steps deeper into relationship with them and specifically are looking to add more people to our ministry in the following areas:

  1. Helping the parents practice their English (could be as simple as engaging in conversation)
  2. Spend quality time together (go to the park, the store, play a board game, we just want to love the family)
  3. Join our Hospitali-Tea Events (we drink tea, play games, and laugh together)

If you are interested in any of these opportunities or want to learn more, stop by the Spotlight Booth in our church lobby on Sunday mornings during the month of February.
